The Sabaragamuwa Province is located in the south-central part of the island. The gem capital of Sri Lanka; Rathnapura is located in this region and is the source for some of the most precious gems ever found in the world. The province is also known for its diverse agricultural crops of rubber, fruits, and rice. The region is considered to be a wet zone and is host to a number of natural attractions such as rainforests, waterfalls, and mountain climbs.
