Groves of palmyrah, limestone formations, and the highest average temperature in Sri Lanka, distinguish the Northern Province from all other regions. The ethnic diversity as spread across the island is clearly felt in this part of the land, with the major populace being Tamil and not Sinhalese. The northern-most part of the province showcases many beautiful beaches and has a number of small islands dotting the ocean around them.
