Located just above the Western Province, the region is well known for its coconut plantations. But it’s main attractions are the wide golden beaches that extend from Waikkal at the Southern End to the Dutch Bay in the Puttalam District. The province also hold cultural significance with its former status as a medieval kingdom spanning the mid-12th to the mid-14th centuries.
