The Central Province is located in the central hills of the island and is the home to the city of Kandy; the last capital of the ancient kingdom in Sri Lanka. Picturesque landscapes and temperate climates are a defining element of this mountainous province that still retain the charm of the colonial era; as particularly experienced in the city of Nuwara Eliya. A part of the infamous Knuckles mountain range spans across this province, which plays host to many natural sanctuaries that showcase Sri Lanka's abundance of flora and fauna.
